Today: Reception and Screening of "Warrior Champions

Nov 16, 2010

As co-chairs of the Congressional Olympic and Paralympic Caucus, we hope you will accept the invitation you received from the United States Olympic Committee to a reception and screening of “Warrior Champions” today starting at 5:30pm in the South Orientation Theater of the Capitol Visitors Center

During a time when we honor our veterans, this documentary highlights the extraordinary efforts of an inspiring group who went from serving our nation in uniform to aspiring to represent it in paralympic competition. As little as a year after losing limbs and suffering paralysis fighting in Iraq, these veterans set out to do what many thought impossible- to compete in the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. Special guests at this event include Justin Widhalm, Wounded Warrior and 2012 Paralympic hopeful; Michelle Kwan, Two-Time Olympic Medalist 1998 & 2002, Figure Skating; and Scott Blackmun, Chief Executive Officer, U.S. Olympic Committee.

Additionally, we would like to invite you to join the Congressional Olympic and Paralympic Caucus. We are a bipartisan group of Members dedicated to educating Congress about the goals and spirit of Olympic related athletic activity, increasing diversity in athletics, promoting clean and fair competition, expanding youth sports, and highlighting the benefits of sports to individuals with disabilities, including our injured military servicemembers and veterans.
